If you’re paying attention, suddenly Succession
unfolds into something altogether different and remarkably potent: a
depiction of the coping mechanisms of which emotionally arrested
children carry unknowingly into adulthood.
The effect is so good that it may actually be triggering for survivors of narcissistic parents and childhood trauma.
The show is brilliant for many reasons, but largely for its depiction
that in the painful and losing race of earning a narcissistic parent’s
approval, not even the wealthy can win.
